Q: What is Boudoir Photography?
A: Boudoir photography can have several meanings and words attached to it including pin-up, burlesque, make-over, vintage, lingerie and many more. In general, Boudoir is a term used to define a style of image that shows a woman in a partial state of undress, usually in underwear or corsetry. The idea is to imply sensuality in a provocative and tasteful manner without crossing the line into actual nudity.

Q: Where are you based and what areas do you cover?
A: We are located in Brighton, East Sussex. The studio is easily accessible by car or bus and there is lots of free parking. I can also collect from Brighton Railway Station for those new to the area without a means of transport. I will travel to anywhere in the country providing that travel costs are made allowance for.

Q: Are my images safe?

A: Yes, your images are totally safe. Only I work on the images before sending you the final finished images. After that they are encrypted so no-one can view them without a password. They will never enter the public domain without your express permission.

Q: The women on your site are beautiful, did they need photoshop?
A: Yes, I tucked in various bits and pieces and removed blemishes accordingly, nobody is perfect!

Q: Do you have any female photographers?
A: No. You could be led to believe that female photographers are easier to work with but I've sometimes found the reverse to be true. Some clients have mentioned they felt awkward or that they felt as if they were being 'judged'. In reality a true professional photographer should be able to put someone at ease and work with them achieving the same results regardless of gender.

Q: How much photoshop / airbrushing do you do?
A: I try very hard to do as little as possible. Not because I'm lazy but I think the large majority of photographers out there do way too much. Everyone has a personality that needs to shine through. It's why my images have the impact that they do. A good lighting technique can do a lot of the work for me. I also stay away from images that are over softened. I never soften an image up or make it look like vaseline has been smeared around the edges. A good eye and ability to not go over the top in Photoshop is paramount to the end result. It's all about being natural!

Q: Has your work been published?

A: Yes, I've been featured in Erotic Capital, Streetfighters Magazine and Bizarre for Glamour work, Milkcow Magazine for Boudoir and various online magazines, the Edinburgh Fringe, Annabelles Wigs, Burlesque posters and have worked with models from Nuts Magazine, Front, FHM and UK's Next Top Model.

Q: Can you make me look stunning?
A: Everyone has left here happy...I will work with you to get the very best images possible.

Q: What should I be aware of when preparing for my shoot?
A: Based on common mistakes made, it is recommended to get a good nights sleep beforehand, clean and tidy nails, clean soles of the feet (very common oversight). Also, recent spray tan lines are almost impossible to fix (believably) and no alcohol the night before as it can cause reddening of the eyes,

Q: Can I bring someone with me?

A: Yes, but females only please and only one person, any more and there becomes too many distractions to complete the shoot to a high standard.

Q: Can I have the high resolution files for printing myself?

A: Yes, they are sent to you once chosen. Additional files are £5 each. Lab printing facilities are available also, which are recommended. The equipment I use captures such detail and colour that anything other than Lab printing will not do the images justice.

Q: Do you have any other sites?
A: Yes, Sussex Boudoir is actually the sister site to Chris Giles Photography, which is my main site. I also run Booheads which is a site for actors headshots.

Q: I don't know how to hold or position myself for the camera, can you help?
A: Yes, I have a guide for positioning you can follow at the shoot. Simple poses and positions that are easy to hold. Your photoshoot should be fun so I try to make life as easy as possible! I can also recreate poses you like the look of. Bring the image with you on the day and we can work that into the shoot.

Q: What should I bring?
A: It's your shoot! Bringing too much is better than bringing too little. If you are looking to impress your partner bring something of theirs to wear like their favourite shirt. Don;t forget matching underwear! Also over the years we've noticed that briefs are better than thongs or G strings as they create better lines but it's entirely up to you what you bring.

Q: I haven't got a models figure, will you be able to make me look sexy?
A: Yes, of course. Bear in mind though that nearly every picture of a model in print today has had substantial work done with photo editing software. Feeling confident and sexy is more important as it will show in your images.and make you feel amazing too.

Q: Should I have makeup and hair on the day?
A: I think it depends on your own ability. Many have their own style which they would like to recreate. If you would like to enhance your shoot then I do work with some of the top make up artists and hair stylists in the area who can be brought in for your shoot.
